Turns out: Genius doesn’t come from my desk
A few months ago, I claimed for myself that, “my best work is done on my yoga mat” (or in this case, a beach towel).
This came after a series of workouts, meditations or yoga practices where new ideas or solutions to problems I’d been stuck on just appeared…without thinking, forcing or “working”.
The space from actively doing allows me to combine the history of my knowledge and experience with the presence of my gut.
From this place, the answers come with ease and a 30-minute workout has suddenly saved me three hours of pushing. I honestly have to keep a notebook handy because it happens so effortlessly.
This shift in thinking about my work has made me more productive effective than ever.
Because it acknowledges that my value is in my insight and vision… not in my production or hours at my desk.
It reminds me: I’m a human being, not a machine.
What’s your unexpected place of genius? And what stories are in your way of operating from that place more often?
