MY STORY
I’ve aways been one of those high achievers.
I invest 100% of myself in anything I do and have an un-rivaled work ethic. For a long-time, this served me well- a padded resume, a full-ride scholarship to business school and a founding role at a successful start-up all by 24- until it didn’t.
The line between my business and my personal identity became very thin. A bad day at work meant I wasn’t good enough. A rejection from a potential customer was a rejection of me as a person. Someone challenging the viability of our mission felt like an attack on my personal belief system.
I was investing so much of my life in my work that I didn’t have much of a life at all. But the truth was… I didn’t want to stop.
I CARED about my work- I believed what I was doing was important- I felt it was my calling. I was willing to give anything I could to see my vision through and yet… I was no longer willing to sacrifice everything else in my life.
The truth is… my ambitions were eating me alive.
I'M EMILY
and here's my story
On one hand, better leveraging my team and processizing my business so it needed less of me. Setting clearer goals and leaning into data so I knew what was happening in my business, without having to be involved in everything.
And on the other, investing in a mix of deep, inner work with a coach and incorporating eastern practices like yoga and meditation to optimize my energy.
It took time and commitment and feeling like I was going against the grain, but it worked! And the result was…
A renewed sense of freedom.
I finally got to a place where I felt my work fulfilled my life and made me a better person. Enjoying the rest of my life made me less resentful of my work and, in turn, more successful when I was there.
My relationships across the board improved and I felt like I was at the top of my game.
And that's where Boss & Buddha was born.
After a decade of figuring out how to do it (and lots of suffering along the way!), now I give that freedom to others.
I knew there had to be a way, so I started to experiment by blending two different approaches.
Have run companies with employee engagement of over 95%.

A FEW OF MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
We are not a “work self” and a “life self” we are one whole person moving through different spaces. The seamless integration of work and life is key to fulfilling our purpose.
We contain all of the wisdom we need inside of us and already have everything we need to move forward. Sometimes we just need someone to shine a light on what’s already there.
Great businesses make the world better. Great leadership is the cornerstone of building a successful business. Great leadership starts with deep self-awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement.
